Some people also ask

Does an electric fence work when there is no electricity?

Yes your electric fence will still work using the back up battery inside the energizer machine. However most have power loss detection therefore it goes into low voltage mode to save battery. Please note that the battery may last from 4hrs to 8hrs therefore if you stay in an area with power problems we recommend you put solar system.

Does electric fence use a lot of electricity?

Electric fence use as little energy as the 60w bulb. Electric fence does not use a lot electricity as many people think. The fence is powered by a machine called the energizer that provides a pulse of energy to the fence up to about 9000V. So it means the electric fence does not get power directly from your household electricity. Most modern energizers have battery backup which makes them even better in times of load shedding.

Is an electric fence worth it and effective?

Installation of electric fence has always proved to work in keeping unwanted people out of your premises. An electric fence makes it a bit more difficult to come in and therefore delays intrusion. However sometimes criminals find their way in as there is no security that is immune to intrusion but it really makes it not easy as compared when there is nothing. We always advise that the electric fence must be your first line of defense and add things like alarm and CCTV. In terms of animal control electric fence is very effective. Animals once they get a shock for the first time then they never attempt to go beyond that boundary again. In conclusion electric fence is worthy it as first security parameter but additional security systems will also help.
