How much does electric fencing cost per metre?
Use the detailed tables above: wall-top rates range from R95–R165/m across the listed distance bands, and freestanding rates from R205–R315/m. The energiser is additional.
What is included in those rates?
Standard fence hardware and installation labour. Energiser equipment, its installation and accessories are separately quoted.
Does a longer fence cost less?
The rate per metre may decrease, but the overall total usually rises because more materials and labour are required.
How do I compare supplier quotes?
Compare fence type, length, line count, materials, energiser model, accessories, site work, VAT and documentation. A low headline rate may cover a different scope.
Will the fence work during a power outage?
A suitable backup battery may keep it operating, depending on its condition and the energiser. Backup duration and operating modes vary by model.
Does an electric fence use much electricity?
Power consumption depends on the energiser and its operation. Check the selected model’s input specifications rather than relying on a general light-bulb comparison.
Is electric fencing an effective security measure?
It can provide a deterrent and monitored perimeter, but security needs differ. Cameras, alarms and secure access points can support the overall design.
Can it be used for animal control?
Yes, with a fence layout and energiser selected for the animals and site. Ask for an application-specific recommendation.
Can I supply my own materials?
The original page offers installation of customer-supplied kits. Confirm that the kit is suitable and complete before agreeing on a labour quote.
Is the energiser the same as an installed kit?
No. A unit-only price covers the energiser itself. The installed kit described on this page also includes specified protection, earthing, siren and labour.
